The house is located in the village of Ameno, in the hamlet of Vacciago.
In the hamlet of Vacciago there is a collection of contemporary art that the artist Antonio Calderara wanted to leave as a testimony to avant-garde artistic trends from around 1920 to 1978, the year of his death. A total of 327 works by 133 different world-famous authors can be admired here.
The village of Ameno is located on the first hill of Lake Orta and is part of the mountain community Due Laghi, Cusio Mottarone and Val Strona. On 26 September 2012, it was granted the green flag and the ‘Sustainable Piedmont Village – Location for more responsible tourism’ label awarded to local communities that have distinguished themselves for the good environmental practices implemented.
The village has less than a thousand inhabitants, but in the summer it comes alive again thanks to the many holidaymakers who occupy the houses and villas around Lake Orta.
In the main square there is a beautiful, recently renovated Gothic park, which sometimes hosts events. Definitely worth a visit!
